Abingdon was our first public show of the year and forecast was not good. Early acts were lucky but increasing convection and over development  lead to bigger and bigger showers with smaller and smaller gaps to cram displays into.

Just as I thought it was all over close to our display time a clearance came through. The Eurofighter and Spitfire combination made good use of it as did Chris Gotke flying the T6. I started  thinking we were going to ace it but sadly the next shower arrived just as we ran in.

Severe turbulence heavy rain and strong winds combined do nothing to make your life easy. This was compounded by a slightly under performing engine on aeroplane No.2 which meant I was not being able to give as much as I would have liked.

It turned into a baptism of fire for Chris but he coped brilliantly and we actually managed a full display less the mirror 360 start.

Thanks to Neil Porter and his dedicated team for organising such a great show and inviting us. It is nice to do a show so close to home.
