Weston Air Festival

Filed in Team News by on 24th June 2014

The Weston Air Festival is a relatively new seaside airshow held over the beautiful beaches of Weston-Super-Mare. 2014 saw some fantastic summer weather and Weston enjoyed beautiful clear blue skies throughout the show weekend. The Twister Aerobatics Team were invited to display on the Saturday of the event which was also part of the Town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations. The event was opened by a march past by the Royal Marines of 40 Commando who were granted the freedom of the town.

The air show itself was a typical seaside airshow featuring many military acts likes the Red Arrows, Tucano, Tutor plus the solo Lynx displays from the Army Air Corps and Royal Navy. There were some other great acts including Peter Davies with his Calidus AutoGyro, Rich Goodwin and Pitts S2S Special and the newly restored Camberra PR9 from the MidAir Squadron. The town is a great venue for the show with crowds able to the watch from the extensive beaches and the newly refurbished Grand Pier.

Thanks to Trevor Graham and the team at North Somerset Council for the invite to display at this wonderful event.
