Breitling Heroes Airshow, RFC Rendcomb

The Twister Aerobatic Team were delighted to be invited back to RFC Rendcomb by Vic and Anne Norman for their private and very exclusive Breitling Heroes Airshow. Rendcomb is a beautifully restored First World World Royal Flying Corps Aerodrome – even the grass has been laid to exact specification used in 100 years ago!

The team were lucky enough to be able to practice our display the day before the show over Rendcomb along with the GliderFX team.

The team arrived early on Saturday for another practice before the pilots briefing. The hospitality at Rendcomb is always utterly brilliant and all the participants were treated to lunch in Pancho’s Barn.

Shows at Rendcomb are always very exclusive events offering guests a very special day out. All proceeds raised from the event went to the Help for Heroes charity.

The air display starred many of the great civilian acts from the display circuit. Joining in were Peter Teichman in his P-51D Mustang, The TRIG Aerobatic Team, John Beattie in the T-6 Texan and the Blades. However the star turn of the line-up were the seven L-39 Albatros jets of the Breitling Jet Team which closed the flying display.

There was also an amazing twist to the afternoon when BBC’s Top Gear film crew turned up shortly following by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. Hammond somehow found himself on the top wing of Vic Norman’s Stearman and was “treated” to a full display while his two colleagues watched on from their own take on airshow hospitality!

Pete also re-joined the GliderFX Team for a special one-off display recreating the original Swift Team displays with a solo Twister formating on the Piper Pawnee with Fox Glider on tow.

We must thank Vic and Anne Norman for their very kind invitation to their airshow and to the whole of AeroSuperBatics for looking after us so well.
