RAF Scampton Families Day

Filed in Team News by on 2nd September 2013

Having got back From Dittengen with Jon the engines had hardly cooled when we were airborne again to visit Scampton this time with Guy back as No.2.

RAF Scampton is home of the Red arrows we were asked to display at their Family day at the EAC meeting this January by Red 10. As well as the normal Military participants we were joined by Gnat Display Team with one of their aircraft in Red arrows livery and the Matadors were also there in their Red Bull Sbachs.

Although a nice day it was very windy at the event and almost 90 degress across the usable runway. This meant some of the display acts could not operate as it was out of their operational limits.

We arrived early for briefing and admired the amazing pictures adorning the corridors of the historic base. Before our display we checked out a Mclaren F1 car and other ground exhibits.

Our tradition of obtaining flags from places where we display was made easy as the Red arrows merchandise stand gave us one!

Despite the conditions all went well and after refuelling we were winging our way back to our base.
